Learning Curves is an easy to use app with a friendly user interface.

Learning curves describes the phenomenon whereby the labour time per unit reduces as units produced doubles as efficiency increases as a result of workers getting more familiar with the task.

The time taken can therefore be predicted using learning curves and the rate of learning. The rate of learning describes the reduction in time taken as output doubles, for instance, if time reduces by 10%, this represents a rate of learning of 90%.

To use this app, you will need to input the time taken to produce the first batch, the number of batches and the rate of learning.

This then outputs the cumulative average time per batch and the time taken for the last batch made.

Please note however that although learning curves are true for repetitive tasks, the learning curve effect will only apply until the steady state where output time will stabilise.
